Examples ---------------------------------------------- To help illustrate a few points here are some examples of common mistakes we see on the LUG, I have collected 11 examples on how to quote messages etc. First you will see a list of what is wrong with the example, then the incorrect message (“before”), with the correct version below (“after”). ##################################################### Example 1: - the subject line needs correct.. The format we use is “Re: [LUG] [xxx] (subject)”... - quotes need to be properly attributed to the right authors - please trim all quoted signatures as some can be quite lengthy before: ______________________________________________________________________ From: xxx Date: Tue Dec 17, 2002 5:32pm Subject: [LUG] Re: [GEN] JV1010 --- In logic-users@yahoogroups.com, Michael Haydn wrote: > At 9:21 Uhr +0000 16.12.2002, rpenick2001 wrote: > >Auto linking to > >SoundDiver fails because it sends back the (useless) Performance > >preset names [when I want Program names] > > Then SoundDiver thinks that the sub-channel you have double-clicked > is the Control Channel. It can be upsetting at times to see someone say you wrote something, when it was really written by someone else. In this case it would have looked like “xtreammusic” wrote the quoted text when it was really John Lehmkuhl. before: ______________________________________________________________________ From: xxx Date: Fri Jan 31, 2003 10:28am Subject: Re: [LUG] [GEN] MOTU PCI Card Caution --- In logic-users@yahoogroups.com, xtreammusic wrote: > > > MOTU PCI cards (except for the newest one that was just introduced) use up a > > HUGE portion of the PCI Bandwidth. > > -John Lehmkuhl > By the 'new one' are you referring to the HD 192 card? Anyone have info/news on the 192 cards/interface? ______________________________________________________________________ ##################################################### Example 5 - Please try to word-wrap your quotes properly, so there is a “>” at the beginning of each line. Some email clients display quotes in a different size/font so it really makes things look much more consistent to have a “>” in front of each quoted-line. - Also instead of “Re: [LAW]” it technically should be “Re: [LUG] [LAW]” though this really doesn’t matter too much. - Please remove signatures from quotes, even if they are just one word - And as always please trim off any unnecessary quotes.. In this case by editing the message it went from 12 lines of quotes to just 7. This isn’t a huge difference but because we do get 3000+ emails a month on average, this small size difference really adds up. before: ______________________________________________________________________ From: xxx Date: Thu Dec 19, 2002 1:10pm Subject: Re: [LAW] memory full error -108, please help!?! --- In logic-users@yahoogroups.com, Mark Bates wrote: > i'm trying to glue together some audio parts and i keep getting an error that says: > Memory Full > Result Code = -108 > does anybody have any idea what this is and how to get rid of it? i've tried closing the song, that > doesn't work, i tried closing logic, that doesn't work. rebooting doesn't even work, but i don't see > why i should have to. i have 1.5 gigs of ram, a p4 1.4ghz, and 30gb free space on my machine! i'm using > xp and lap 5.5. thanks for the help. > -mark hi mark, I had a couple of weeks ago the same error (on P3 with 800MB Ram...), even on a very small session.... well I remembered that the only think I changed [before the errors appeared] , where some additional Ram (one 128Ram chip]...
